On November 17, 2025, a working meeting was held at the Krosno City Hall dedicated to preparations for next year's 26th World Balloon Championships, which will be held in Krosno in September 2026. Participants discussed the preliminary organizational framework for this prestigious event, focusing both on
sporting aspects and on creating an attractive accompanying setting for regional residents and guests from Poland and abroad.
During the meeting, concepts regarding the competition schedule, fan zones, technical infrastructure, and facilities needed for the safe and efficient implementation of the championships were presented. Proposals for accompanying events were also discussed, including concerts, nighttime balloon shows, family activities, and educational initiatives promoting aeronautics. It was emphasized that the organizers' goal was to create an event that would not only represent the highest level of sporting excellence but would also become a celebration for the entire community of Krosno and the Podkarpacie region.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Bogusława Nykiel-Ostrowska Open Hearts Foundation – President Jakub Mika, Vice-Presidents Grażyna Więcek and Wiktor Więcek, representatives of the Krosno City Hall, led by Mayor Piotr Przytocki, a representative of the Marshal of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, and representatives of Poland National Television. The presence of such a wide range of institutions underscores the importance of the championships as an event with both local and national dimensions.
Further steps in the cooperation have been agreed upon, including a schedule of subsequent meetings and the division of tasks, so that in the coming weeks we can move on to the detailed implementation of tasks related to the project. Thanks to the involvement of many partners, this year's championships have the potential to become one of the most important sporting and cultural events in the history of the city
and the province.
